Welcome to Dhamma Marudhara
Dhamma Marudhara is one of the many centers around the world dedicated to the practice of Vipassana meditation as taught by S. N. Goenka. It is situated in Jodhpur (also known as Suncity), Rajasthan, in the Northern part of India. Residential meditation courses are held here throughout the year.
Introduction to Vipassana Meditation
Vipassana means “to see things as they really are”. It is a process of self-purification by self-observation. While taught by the Buddha in India 2500 years ago, it is not connected with Buddhism or any other religion and can be practiced by anyone without conflict with existing religious beliefs or absence of beliefs. For those who are not familiar with Vipassana Meditation, we recommend visiting the International Vipassana Website for an introduction.
Applying for a Course
Vipassana meditation is taught during ten-day residential courses. This period has been found to be the minimum necessary for new students to understand the technique and its benefits through their own experience. To apply online for a course, please read the Code of Discipline and then find a convenient date in the Course Schedule, and submit an online application form by clicking on the date. Alternatively, you can download the form PDF/Word/Excel Link, fill the same and submit at the Jodhpur Office/Centre.
Students are admitted free on cost. The Centre runs solely on a donation basis and no charge or fees is payable by students. Students are provided free accommodation and food. All expenses are met by donations only from those who have already completed courses, experienced the benefits of Vipassana and wish to give others the same opportunity. Neither the teacher nor the assistant teachers receive remuneration; they and others who serve on the courses volunteer their time and efforts.
Group Sittings for Old Students
Old students who have done the course at least once are permitted to make group sittings which take place every week on Sunday from 10.30 to 11.30 a.m.
